Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing and optimizing existing facility infrastructure.

Job Description

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring supplier quality of specific suppliers, contract manufacturers and material commodities within Locus Robotics. This position spans both technical responsibilities and supplier development activities which includes interacting with suppliers to implement corrective actions, improve control plans and eliminating defects. This job will involve up to 50% domestic travel (post-Covid-19).

Job Duties:

  • Use various data collection methodologies to measure, analyze and improve supplier performance and reduce supplier non-conformances.
  • Create scorecards and maintain established quality metrics, guide supplier level or commodity level programs to meet or exceed established goals.
  • Plan and conduct regular audits with suppliers including onsite certification of product and processes.
  • Support new supplier evaluation and qualification.
  • Participate as a member of the Material Review Board to review and disposition supplier/production related nonconformant material.
  • Work cross functionally with Engineering and Operations to understand quality trends with production, field, and supplier issues.  
  • Prepare and provide data analysis of issues and recommend implementation of corrective and preventative actions for improvement and elimination of defects.
  • Provides technical expertise to purchasing function/supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in engineering discipline OR equivalent experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 5+ years of related technical/engineering experience, preferably with motors, precision sheet metal, injection molded plastics, and other electro-mechanical components such as printed circuit boards and cables.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical document including: engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance), electronic circuit schematics, product specifications, material tolerances and finish specifications.
  • Must have experience with supplier interface including proven ability to develop positive relationships and establishing effective lines of communication.
  • Experience driving standard quality and statistical methods, problem solving, process capability, sampling, fixturing/gaging principles and destructive and nondestructive testing methods at suppliers.
  • Problem-solving skills and the desire to help find solutions to internal and external customer’s needs.
  • Critical thinker and active listener.
  • Self-motivated and strong responsibility ownership.
  • Effective communication, conflict management and team effectiveness.
  • Ability to lead and influence to drive change (cross-functionally).
  • Experience with overall QMS
  • Up to 50% domestic travel (post-Covid-19).
