Job Description

TomoCredit is a fintech startup based in downtown SF. We issue the smartest consumer credit card. Our card does not require a credit score for approval and we use different sources in our underwriting. We are small, but nimble and very passionate about opening credit market to immigrants, with the aim to make it a cutting-edge and pleasant experience for our users.

We're looking for an experienced data engineer with strong SQL skills to join our small and creative team. An ideal person not only knows how to build a strong team but also instills a strong product driven culture within the entire organization. Ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative and collaborative environment.

Since you would be joining us early in our journey, you will be intimately involved in every aspect of the product with a significant say when it comes to technical decisions. You will own projects from concept to completion. You will be working alongside talented software engineers in executing your projects. We highly encourage and value creative thinking that is not limited to tech, but also touches all aspects of the business, marketing, execution and strategy. One of our marketing initiatives was conceived by an engineer on our team!

What you will do

  • Work with the business and operations teams to create data models
  • Write complex SQL queries that touch upon every aspect of the business
  • Build / implement ETL solutions to pull data from various sources
  • Design and implement data models in LookML (Looker)
  • Build and maintain data-driven applications that enable business process automation and support business operations
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure that new products and features are instrumented to capture product usage data/telemetry
  • Be happy!

What you bring to TomoCredit team

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data infrastructure / data warehouse (Master degree & 4+ years professional experience)
  • Experience with ETL and architecting data systems (4+ years experience)
  • Exceptional proficiency in SQL (postgres preferred). 5+ years experience
  • Experience with Looker and knowledge of LookML
  • Solid understanding of REST and building scalable APIs.
  • Natural ability to diagnose and debug complex technical issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Yearning to learn new skills, tech, tools.
  • Bonus: Experience with AWS Ecosystem (EC2, EBS, RDS, Cloudwatch, Lambda, S3)
  • Bonus: Experience in fintech is highly valuable.
  • Your creativity and ability to think out of the box.
