Job Description

Ollie was born with the mission of improving the lives of pets and pet parents nationwide. We make human-grade pet food, tailored for each dog’s nutritional needs, and deliver directly to our customers’ doors. Through Ollie’s carefully crafted meals, dogs can truly live their healthiest, happiest lives.
 
We are a newly remote team, with a majority of employees based in NYC, and are backed by the same venture capital companies behind Instacart, Warby Parker, Glamsquad, Mirror, Prose, and Allbirds.
 
As Ollie’s Logistics and Delivery Experience Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects contributing to the way our food leaves our fulfillment centers to arrive at our customers’ doorsteps. This section provides a summary of the overall duties and the ideal candidate. 
 
This role will report to the Senior Director of Operations. Ollie's team is evolving from a NYC based group to a fully distributed workforce so we welcome applications from across the U.S.

Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement our strategy for national shipping, including national vs regional carriers, last mile shipping, line-hauls, etc.
    • Lead contract negotiations with our carriers
    • Design KPIs, set goals, and develop reporting to monitor carrier performance and shipment and delivery-related issues
    • Develop and lead quarterly business reviews with our network of carriers
    • Assess opportunities to improve quality, costs, and/or competitive positioning of our logistics on a regular basis
    • Keep up-to-date on shipping carriers, routes and rates and any changes to them
    • Develop our annual budget and quarterly reforecast for shipping costs Lead key projects such as ice testing to improve the customer experience and reduce risk to our operations
    • Become the expert on the delivery experience as a customer and coordinate with cross functional partners in Marketing, Tech, Strategy, and Operations to achieve shared goals and objectives to improve the customer experience
    • Serve as a passionate champion of the delivery experience to delight pets, customers, and promote the Ollie brand

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, business administration, transportation, or engineering
    • 5+ years of experience working in logistics, warehouse, or transportation operations
    • Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles
    • Strong team player and ‘can do’ attitude – willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
    • Willingness to tackle new challenges, and desire to learn and grow
    • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, including use of Excel
    • Preferable to have working knowledge of logistics software
