Job Description

Tango is an oncology biotechnology company focused on exploiting synthetic lethal interactions to discover and develop new breakthrough cancer therapies.

Our discovery efforts begin and end with patients. We have inverted the traditional discovery paradigm with our target discovery platform, where the discovery of novel targets and the associated patient selection strategy are integrated into a single experimental design. Our platform uses cutting-edge CRISPR technologies to identify novel targets for genetically-defined groups of cancer patients. We leverage the principles of synthetic lethality to find novel dependencies in cancer cells and identify the relevant drug targets. As we advance our molecules into the clinic, our trials will enroll the patients most likely to benefit from our new treatments as identified in the target discovery profess, thereby enabling greater speed, success, and impact for those patients.


Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, innovative, and resourceful Senior Computational Biologist to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Computational Biology, this individual’s core mission is to provide bioinformatic support and integrated analysis for novel synthetic lethal targets’ discovery, validation and translational study and to generate key data for patient selection strategies. The individual will develop and apply advanced computational and statistical methods to public cancer genomics data and/or internal functional genomics screening data, to provide actionable insights for target identification and drug discovery. This individual will collaborate with multi-disciplinary internal discovery teams and external collaborators.


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of computational biologists, software engineers, and biologists focused on developing cutting-edge analytical platform for high-throughput CRISPR screening
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams by providing computational and statistical expertise
  • Perform computational analysis of multi-omics data to evaluate, review and validate therapeutic hypotheses
  • Actively identify new opportunities to develop and implement advanced computational methods, including probabilistic modeling, machine learning, and deep learning for innovative integrated analyses of public cancer genomic data
  • Collaborate with immunology oncology team in performing in-vivo functional genomics analysis, multi-omics analyses and mining public omics data resources to understand MOA in immunology oncology relevant pathways, and propose the most viable patient selection strategies
  • Present and communicate computational study findings with internal project teams, leadership, and external collaborators


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Biology or a related field is required
  • At least 2 years of post-Ph.D. work experience in developing or applying advanced computational and statistical approaches to solving biomedical problems
  • Proficiency in programming languages for statistical analyses (R, Python) is required
  • Hands-on experience in analyzing multi-omics data (genomics, functional genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, single-cell RNA-seq, etc.) for biomedical research is required
  • Familiarity with integrated statistical analyses using public human genetic and cancer genomic data resources (DepMap, TCGA, GDSC, GTEx, etc) for therapeutic hypotheses evaluation is required
  • Strong understanding of cancer biology and immunology oncology is preferred
