Job Description


We’re looking for a strategic, business and process-oriented People Operations manager who is eager to “roll up their sleeves” and drive innovative processes and insights that will lay the foundation for a best in class People team. As the People Operations Manager you will oversee our HR Systems and HR Programs and support the oversight for systems & data, benefits, immigration, programs, policy, process & compliance.

At this time, this role is remote but once we return to the office, the People Operations Manager will need to work a few days per week in the Redwood City office.


In this critical role, you will be responsible for supporting the employee experience from recruiting and onboarding on. You will help deliver thoughtful HR policies and programs that shape the employee lifecycle that is compliant, efficient, scalable, and reflect the Legion culture and values. 

  • Partner with the leadership team to support an amazing employee experience throughout the employee life cycle, including hiring, onboarding and the day-to-day of working at Legion
  • Represent the PeopleOps team in collaborating with internal partners (e.g. IT and Finance) to build, implement and maintain infrastructure, programs and policies along with processes for scale
  • Lead and maintain systems’ standards and processes related to onboarding, payroll, benefits, change management, and offboarding to ensure we deliver a positive employee experience
  • Manage our benefits vendor and provide enhancements to benefits as warranted
  • Manage Legionnaire events, team bonding and activities, social gatherings
  • Lead PeopleOps reporting, making clever use of numbers to help us identify trends, spot problems early and measure our progress towards our internal and external people goal


  • 3+ years People Operations experience with employee benefits and experience, total rewards and compensation in a 50+ employee company; experience with remote teams a plus
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communications
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to identify and execute process improvements to make systems more streamlined
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS or payroll software, Trinet ideal
  • Extensive knowledge of HR programs and practices, including applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Analytical and demonstrated experience working with people data
  • Focus on maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with sensitive issues

The hourly workforce currently makes up almost 60% of the overall labor market in the United States. These 80 million hourly workers are the driving force behind many of our largest domestic industries, including food and beverage, retail, and hospitality. Workforce management has historically been difficult due to high churn (60% on average and high cost of replacement ($3,200 per employee in retail on average). Now new requirements are developing as generation Z enters this market. In our modern economy, hourly workers want gig-like flexibility, mobile-first technology, and compelling work options. They want to use a mobile phone app to schedule work, not haggle with their manager over schedule changes every week. Also, employers increasingly need a flexible and efficient labor model that supports retail innovations (think pop-up stores, home delivery, mobile ordering, and service options) that today’s modern customer needs and often demands. Mid-market organizations have never had a technology platform to manage their hourly workers, and enterprises are stuck with old legacy software (think Kronos and Infor) that’s ineffective for users and the companies managing today’s modern hourly workforce.
