Pop Meals is a full-stack food delivery service based in Malaysia. Launched initially as dahmakan by food delivery industry veterans, we are the first Malaysian startup to participate in Y Combinator’s startup accelerator program.

Job Description

Pop Meals is one of the fastest-growing food tech startups in Southeast Asia. We make our food brand an everyday choice by delivering popular meals via our app and through dine-in in our outlets. Funded by Y Combinator and leading tech investors from Silicon Valley, Europe, and Asia, we’re conquering a trillion-dollar market in the most exciting region of the world. 


Your responsibilities:


  1.  Leads the company to profitability within 12 months.

  2. Takes full ownership of the financial performance of the company, especially on the cost side: Scrutinizes all costs and fully takes hands-on responsibility of the execution of cost reductions. Burn rate is continuously improved till profitability.

  3. Ensures the company fulfills all legal, tax and auditing requirements by government bodies, banks and investors. Ensures best practices for internal controls and financial and legal risk mitigation.

  4. Ensures the management has full transparency on the financial performance of the company incl. rolling forecasting and scenario planning. Ensures best practices for internal and external reporting including a.o. weekly KPIs, financial statements and management accounts (consolidated and per country).

  5.  Ensure day to day activities of the Finance team are done accurately: payments, bookkeeping, financial accounting, management accounting, cash flow planning, tax and treasury management etc.

  6.  Builds and manages a team of A players.

  7. Has an extremely good understanding of our industry (F&B chains, food startups, delivery) and landscape of business models and actively contributes to the company & strategy.
