About Curology

Clear skin can be life-changing, but it's not easy to see a dermatologist. At Curology, we provide prescription medications custom-formulated for each patient's skin and shipped directly to their door. We tailor the entire Curology experience specifically for patients with acne and anti-aging concerns, allowing us to provide incredibly personalized, effective and affordable care at scale.

Job Description

Our mission is simple: to make personalized skincare accessible and convenient for all. Awarded one of Inc's Best Workplaces 2019 and 2020 Forbes #8 Startup Company, Curology is a leader in direct-to-consumer ecommerce and has been featured in Vogue, Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, and Business Insider.
Curology is creating the next generation of skincare through customized treatment plans and formulas with powerful prescription ingredients for acne and anti-aging. We believe great skin shouldn’t be a luxury, but a fact of life.
Do you thrive on the challenge of expressing complex ideas in clear, compelling ways? Do you want to be part of a brand that’s a true innovator in its space? And do you think skincare and dermatology are usually a little, um, boring? Join the team at Curology! We have a revolutionary approach to prescribing custom acne and anti-aging creams that actually work, thanks to our in-house dermatologists and our outside-the-box creative team.
As a Sr. Designer, you’ll straddle the creative and marketing teams. The ideal candidate understands both sides of the process: how to brainstorm concepts freely and loosely, as well as how to create designs that deliver results.
You are excited to roll up your sleeves and work in a dynamic, results-driven and high-change environment that is evolving to meet the needs of Curology customers with a focus on anti-aging. You’ll work with a team of art directors, writers, videographers and marketers to deliver work for multiple platforms and types of media. You are able to work within an existing design aesthetic, while understanding how to extend that design language to other applications.
You have a deep understanding of interactive design, especially with user consumption of content on social media and current news platforms. You have a deep passion for working across stakeholders and creative teams. The work you produce will foster community, spark dialogue and drive a deeper connection between the creative team and other teams in Curology. You want to be part of an exceptional team and have lots of fun delivering world-class work. You’re excited to work on a modern approach to anti-aging.

What you'll do

    • Work as part of the visual design team that works in collaboration with other creative teams and cross-functional partners, taking concepts from ideation to execution.
    • Own the ideation and creation of visual assets to bring Curology’s brand and communication initiatives to life.
    • Communicate with stakeholders (representing business, product, and engineering) to understand requirements and priorities.
    • Create style guides and design pattern libraries in support of Curology’s brand.
    • Generate design work plans; accurately estimate work items and communicate dependencies and issues as necessary.
    • Communicate design decisions and specifications in a scalable and reproducible form.
    • Work with the creative and marketing team to define Curology’s visual identity across all marketing and product communications.
    • Create meaningful designs that represent complex concepts, adding value to our customers and furthering Curology’s mission.

What we're looking for

    • 3+ years agency or in-house designer experience
    • Bachelor’s degree required in a design-related discipline, such as graphic design, visual communication, information design, or interaction design
    • Strong sense of design sensibilities, from high level strategic direction to small design details
    • Deep understanding of typography for print, web, and mobile
    • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to multiple teams and senior leadership
    • Demonstrates a user-empathy approach to design
    • Self-starter who takes initiative and drives to solutions across teams
    • Multi-tasker who works efficiently under pressure, maintaining focus on details
    • Synthesizes complex information into simple design solutions
    • Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesignPortfolio that includes relevant projects

Why you'll love working at Curology

    • Amazing team culture and environment, leading to almost no turnover since the Company's founding in 2014
    • Awarded Great Place To Work & Inc.’s Best Workplace
    • Competitive salary and equity packages
    • Unlimited, flexible PTO for exempt employees
    • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental and vision insurance are covered 90%+ for employees; flexible spending account; 401k
    • Paid maternity and paternity leave
    • Free daily lunch and a kitchen stocked with delicious snacks, drinks, and coffee
    • Free subscription to Curology!
    • Company sponsored happy hours and outings
