About Curology

Clear skin can be life-changing, but it's not easy to see a dermatologist. At Curology, we provide prescription medications custom-formulated for each patient's skin and shipped directly to their door. We tailor the entire Curology experience specifically for patients with acne and anti-aging concerns, allowing us to provide incredibly personalized, effective and affordable care at scale.

Job Description

Our mission is simple: to make personalized skincare accessible and convenient for all. Awarded one of Inc's Best Workplaces 2019 and 2020 Forbes #8 Startup Company, Curology is a leader in direct-to-consumer ecommerce and has been featured in Vogue, Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, and Business Insider.

Curology is creating the next generation of skincare through customized treatment plans and formulas with powerful prescription ingredients for acne and anti-aging. We believe great skin shouldn’t be a luxury, but a fact of life.

We are looking for our first ever Director of Creative Operations. Much like a tour manager running live concerts, we understand the importance of having a behind-the-scenes leader who never gets in front of the mic or takes a final bow, but is arguably the most important member of the team. The freshest choreography, the coolest merch, the highest quality sound system, and the most expensive lighting setup can’t achieve their potential without the tour manager coordinating the show and putting the right tools and process in place to deliver an amazing performance. We are looking for our tour manager.

Our in-house creative and production teams are currently supported by a creative operations team of six and are looking for a leader with proven experience growing creative teams that achieve the perfect harmony between people, processes and systems to enable creative magic. Your love for finding this perfect harmony is matched only by your love for quarterbacking amazing creative work. If that’s you, we’d love to chat.

What you'll do

    • Oversee the smooth running of our rapidly growing 50+ person in-house creative organization ensuring effective decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and a positive team experience.
    • Be the thought leader for all operations questions on the creative leadership team
    • Spearhead the development of the 3 year growth strategy for the creative organization and build differentiated capabilities in alignment with the strategy.
    • Develop a comprehensive operating plan with both immediate and long-term goals and milestones, assessing the business needs to shape capabilities.
    • Identify improvement opportunities in the running of the creative team, devise and implement holistic solutions encompassing people, processes and systems.
    • Drive change large and small: From changing the structure of our creative briefs to selecting and implementing new technology, such as Digital Asset Management.
    • Develop and maintain key relationships with internal & external partners, driving a culture of collaboration.
    • Partner with the creative leadership team to continuously evolve our organization in line with our strategy, assessing in-sourcing vs. outsourcing options, elevating our hiring, on-boarding and on-going training processes.
    • Oversee the management of all creative projects, supporting and determining critical timelines and key milestones in the creative development process, including budget, talent, and schedule etc.
    • Identify issues as they (before they) emerge and take proactive steps to resolve (prevent) them.
    • Champion the quest for creative excellence, bringing stakeholders along for the journey to always improve our work.

What we're looking for

      • A clear and creative strategic thinker who recognizes and nurtures big, new ideas; you advocate for great, innovative work and you obsess over the effectiveness of the creative process and output.
      • Smitten with problem-solving - you love driving step-change improvements through first-principles innovative thinking, but also love taking short-cuts by relying on the expertise of others. A candidate that excels in planning, scheduling, project communication, issue resolution, change management, analysis, and risk management.

Qualifications
    • 10+ years experience at a consumer brand / agency running creative operations.
    • 3+ years of experience leading a team.
    • A track record of success in managing the delivery of great creative work in fast-paced environments.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing projects in a scrappy way that create remarkable work earning an outsize share of the cultural conversation.
    • Strong knowledge of creative workflows, project management tools and processes, and experience in leading implementation. You have experience implementing automation solutions to replace manual tasks. You can predict the future, having shown how you successfully forecast demand and build to meet it. Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Positive, optimistic, collaborative attitude balanced with a strong sense of pragmatism.
