Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, creative, and motivated Research Associate to join our rapidly growing team. In this role you will contribute to the company’s platform technology of engineered satellite organs. Specifically, you will be part of our cross-functional team working with cell lines and implantable grafts. You will fabricate hydrogel grafts, conduct in vitro assays, and participate in in vivo studies to advance our lead research and development programs.

 

This role is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, well-funded Biotech startup. You will initially report directly to the Associate Director of Process Development. This position is full-time with laboratory time being on-site at our facilities located in Cambridge, MA.

 

Responsibilities:

●      Perform culture, characterization, and manipulation of human cells. 

●      Perform in vitro functional and histopathology assays on cells, grafts, and samples. 

●      Fabricate hydrogel grafts containing human cells for in vivo studies. 

●      Participate in rodent and porcine in vivo studies (e.g. blood sampling, tissue harvest, implantation surgeries, etc) as needed., 

●      Maintain materials, reagents, and cell bank inventories.

●      Document, compile, and report on data collected from in vitro studies.

●      Participate in regular internal project meetings and data reviews.

●      Maintain a clear, detailed laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience: 

●      Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a biological science discipline (immunology, cancer biology, cellular biology, etc.) with 2 years of laboratory experience.

●      Experience with mammalian cell/tissue culture and sterile technique required.

●      Experience with general cell and molecular biology techniques.

●      Understanding of animal studies as well as experience with animal handling, dose administration

and sample collections is a plus.

●      Possesses documentation skills and attention to detail.

●      Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, time-management, and organizational skills are required.  

●      The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter, have a strong work ethic, be able to generate high quality work under tight deadlines, and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment.
