Brief Description
The reporter will cover the Indian commodity markets through providing news and analysis coverage, maintaining and expanding the contact base, and attending conferences. He/she will also expand development of market coverage and provide content and information to Argus’ editorial teams in Singapore, London and other Argus offices. The candidate should possess strong writing and numerical skills. A familiarity with energy and commodity markets would be a strong advantage.

Argus’ Asia business is headquartered in Singapore and covers operations across Singapore, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Sydney. This role is with Argus’ Indian entity, Argus India Price Reporting Services LLP, which provides services to the global Argus group.
The role reports to the Head of Mumbai and will work closely with the Bureau Chief, Asia.
Specific responsibilities
- Write news, analysis and reports to be provided to Argus’ global editorial team for inclusion in Argus’ daily, weekly and monthly reports and the online news service
- Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts, and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders to gain market intelligence
- Develop new contacts within the market
- Conduct interviews with senior executives in the Indian commodity sector
- Maintain and build databases of industry-relevant information
- Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus departments
- Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts and report on news
Skills and Experience
- A graduate with strong degree
- Ability to develop, source and write industry relevant news to deadline
- Knowledge of the energy and commodity sectors would be a strong advantage
- Excellent English writing, grammar and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives
- Ability to work effectively with management and meet targets in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Strong co-ordination and time management skills
- Additional languages useful but not essential
- High level of numerical accuracy
- Computing skills
- High levels of personal Integrity
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Earlier or later hours, or weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
