Job Description
Labster's new Lead Product Owner, Content/EdTech will work closely with our content development team and other Product Owners to shape the future of our user-facing content as we grow. The role will represent the voice of millions of students, from a diverse set of backgrounds, while helping scale our production capabilities. It will help standardize and scale our products and own the vision of our simulation and anciliarary content products so they deliver a consistent high-quality experience for these users. Our content catalogue growth goals are ambitious, so this role will need to have a strong editorial background in publishing or interactive game production at scale. It will leverage other in-house or external experts on learning design, game design etc, but background in these areas is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Classic Product Owner responsibilities such as writing user stories and prioritizing the backlog for the best user experience
Representing the voice of diverse students in the development of simulations and ancillary content products
Developing our understanding of value for our student end users
Growing and developing our team of other content product owners
Consistent use of tracking and roadmap tools (jira etc)
Establishing and maintaining standards across the products to maintain consistency across the catalogue
Coaching other product owners in best practices particularly in a content production or game development setting
Structuring the team and workload for high scale across a variety of content-related products
Managing a large catalogue of new and legacy content products, in alignment with our vertical product managers for High School and Higher Education
Standardizing our approach to working with development teams to enable continued scaling
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
5+ years in Product Owner roles, ideally within digital content production, editorial/publishing, game development or EdTech
2+ years leading and coaching Product Owners
Experience growing or scaling content production teams
A well-worn toolkit of user testing and product validation techniques
Background in creating guidelines and best practices for scalable product design, particularly for a diverse user base
Experience establishing value-based metrics for digital learning products a big plus
Experience managing and creating consistency across a large catalogue of products
Demonstrated ability to triage feedback coming from a million+ user base
Experience in a B2B2C environment, balancing inputs from buyers vs end-users a plus
