We're seeking a talented frontend engineer to help us design, build and support our state-of-the-art micro-frontend framework delivering the Zendesk. Admin Experience. You will be an integral part of building this platform further to allow teams all across Zendesk to collaborate. We’re really proud of the technology we’ve built in this space so far.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll utilise your technical expertise to guide and enable our team of experienced engineers. You’ll bring knowledge of current JavaScript thinking to help develop and enhance our innovative modular framework and deliver a unified Admin Experience with features like universal search. In this pivotal role, you’ll be a visible advocate for the developer experience across our Engineering function. There’s no satisfaction like that of building a framework that your fellow Zendesk engineers will use every day.

Every day, you will:

  • Work closely with your team of engineers: mentoring, pairing and reviewing code.

  • Drive technical architecture, design, planning and implementation.

  • Offer experience and expertise in the best possible front end technology.

  • Work with amazing people across Zendesk from Product, Design and Engineering, helping to advocate, plan and collaborate.

  • Influence a global engineering organisation of more than 1,000 engineers and hundreds of teams across a number of engineering offices.

What you bring to the role:

  • A strong technical background, with an understanding of the current trends and tools in the JavaScript and browser space.

  • A top-to-bottom knowledge of JavaScript build tools, like NPM, Yarn, Lerna and Webpack. Time spent using React or a similar framework is also important.

  • Experience building complex, robust and reliable user interfaces in the browser.

  • A culture of teaching, learning, growth and innovation.

  • An interest in the accessibility, usability and performance of a browser-based user experience.

  • The ability to work across Product and Engineering teams and you want to be an advocate for your team’s technology.

  • Bonuses: Experience with micro-frontends, modular delivery or any other approaches to improving web developer productivity. Experience with one or more server-side languages (Ruby/Golang or equivalent).
