Job Description

Role Description:

As a Contract Designer for Quartz, you will be part of an early-stage, high growth start up working on the future of construction, wearing different design hats everyday. Your role as a product-oriented design generalist will be critical in fostering a culture of iteration, incremental improvements, and continuous user feedback, starting with a focus on Marketing and Visual Design. Your design work will help Quartz improve its product and ultimately better serve its customers.

  • Marketing (Visual Design)
    • Collaborate with the Marketing team to produce and design assets that engage and convert audiences, including landing pages, social media assets, digital ads, print materials, photography, email assets, fact sheets, white papers and more
    • Design and manage the Quartz website via Squarespace in collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Product (UX / UI Design)
    • Provide support and collaborate with the Quartz Design Lead throughout the product design process: user research, ideation, user testing, and mock-ups
    • Create assets for various platforms and devices while maintaining high craft and quick execution
    • Scale design by enforcing and maintaining the Quartz Design System and Brand Guides
    • Ability to clearly and concisely communication design decisions and rationale behind deliverables
    • Provide assistance to other internal teams, such as Customer Development, Field Ops, and Hardware when needed


You have (required):

  • Proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Squarespace
  • Product-Oriented
  • Excellent organization; easy-to-find-files, clear file naming conventions + layer management are necessary part of a fast-paced design environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment

You ideally have (nice to have):

  • A least 1 year of professional design experience at a tech company, ideally at a B2B early-stage start-up in the construction industry
  • Previous experience or general understanding of the construction industry
  • Experience developing and shipping MVPs; you can conceptualize solutions with max impact through minimal engineering and design resources and effort
  • Experience with 3-D Modeling software (Rhino 3D) to create 2d axon/isometric drawings
  • Familiarity with HTML / CSS
