Global Supply Manager (Hardware) – Job Description

Positioned as the interface between C2Sense and the industries that supply core component technologies,  the Global Supply Manager (GSM) is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations based on improving technology. The position requires an interest in market dynamics, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation.  The Global Supply Manager is also responsible for Supplier Quality Management of C2Sense’s outsourced Contract Manufacturing of C2Sense’s OEM Sensors.

 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and mitigate risks to the business. Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time.
  • Responsible for the Quality Assurance & Quality Control of parts coming out of C2Sense’s Contract Manufacturer.
  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineers on implementation of test and inspection at critical points of the manufacturing process.
  • Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) where necessary.
  • Analyze production process, procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies. Create plans to eliminate or minimize these inefficiencies.
  • Quality Management Systems (QMS) adherence, development, implementation, procedures, and any related quality activity.
  • Recommend & implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve quality excursions.
  • Review Quality trends, drive improvement plans to reduce defects.
  • Use Quality Tools & Techniques to analyze & improve quality & productivity.
  • Conduct Supplier Capability Assessments and Supplier audits.
  • Formulate, implement & improve consistent quality procedures.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape in order to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify changes in buyer and supplier power within core materials markets and use industry dynamics to C2Sense’s advantage.
  • Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing. Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality in order to strike agreements that meet C2Sense’s performance criteria and secure long term supply continuity.
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure business objectives are met. Actively identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy.
  • Optimize global supply chain performance through cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Develop an in-depth understanding of value-added manufacturing processes and costs, reverse logistics, and market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence C2Sense’s future product roadmap and sourcing decisions.

 

Requirements:

  • Proficient in analysis process tools & software (JMP, MiniTab, 6 Sigma, SPC, etc).
  • Working knowledge of international quality standards, eg. ISO 9001 / 14001, etc).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sudden setbacks.
  • A knack for negotiations.
  • Willingness to operate in a dynamic environment.
  • BEng degree (Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering). Advanced degree desired but not required.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience.

 

Preferred Abilities/Skills:

  • 3+ years in a large scale manufacturing environment in manufacturing related roles, preferably GSM (Global Supply Manager) or SQE (Supplier Quality Engineer) or SBE (Supply Base Engineer) roles.
  • Experience in E-Sourcing is a plus.
  • Experience with performing Supplier Capability Assessment and management of a Qualified Vendor List (QVL).
  • Proven track record of improving production yield through identification of production bottlenecks/inefficiencies.
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates abiity to see the big picture, especially as it relates to identification of strategic changes that can have big impact.
  • Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer, 6-Sigma Black / Green belt preferred.
  • Demonstrates experience in use of tools in the Lean and/or Six Sigma tool kit in problem solving.
