Job Summary

The Manager, Supply Chain Planning will be responsible for the planning and procurement of all reagents and starting materials required for all internal and external manufacturing of drug Substance, bulk drug product and fill/finish operations. This role will work very closely with all raw material vendors and will coordinate all activities required to support raw material production and release to ensure material availability for upcoming production plans.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop supply strategies and material requirement & procurement plans for critical raw materials based on the production plans to ensure availability.
  • Generate raw material supply plans based on inventory policies and any constraints utilizing the planning tools.
  • Generate inventory projections, issue summaries, and other KPIs and reports for monthly planning cycle.
  • Request raw material manufacturing, procurement and/or shipping quotes, create required Purchase Orders, review and approve invoices.
  • Lead vendor management meetings with manufacturing, analytical development and QA to coordinate required activities to ensure timely release of materials.
  • Manage inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations.
  • Prepare and communicate quarterly raw material procurement forecast internally and externally.
  • Prepare detailed raw material distribution plans between vendors, depots and CMOs on a regular basis.
  • Review and maintain appropriate safety stock strategy on a regular basis to maintain optimal level raw material inventory and cost.
  • Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for all products by collaborating with Pharmaceutical Sciences and Manufacturing Science & External Vendor Management teams.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.        

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in industrial engineering, supply chain, operations or related field with minimum 8 years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience in supply chain management and planning. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Pharm-Sci, Manufacturing Science and Operations, CMC Project Management, Quality as well as external vendors
  • Experience planning in a multiple manufacturing site and/or contract manufacturing environment
  • Must have strong analytical skills and be able to concisely summarize information. Prepare presentation and communications appropriate to the audience.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Previous ERP system experience and/or system implementation preferred.
