Job Description
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Manager /Senior Manager of R&D Accounting will be responsible for month-end closing activities in areas including R&D contracts and R&D accruals. This position will serve as the primary point of contact with the R&D team in making sure that our contracts are properly tracked and accounted for. It will involve clear communication, organization, and a great sense of teamwork. This position represents a great opportunity to join a growing finance department and help us shape the future state of finance & accounting at Kymera! Kymera Therapeutics is a biotechnology company pioneering a transformational new modality called targeted protein degradation (TPD), leveraging the body’s own protein recycling machinery, the Ubiquitin Proteasome System (UPS), to degrade disease-causing proteins and pursue disease targets long considered undruggable. Using our proprietary Pegasus drug development platform, we are discovering and developing novel, heterobifunctional molecules, that optimize the key elements of the UPS to deliver new oral therapies to address significant, unmet medical needs.
Kymera is rapidly advancing toward the clinic with our first program in immune-inflammatory disease slated to begin clinical studies in the first half of 2021 and additional programs in oncology indications entering the clinic in the second half of 2021. The company also continues to expand the reach of its protein degrader therapies through strategic partnerships with companies including Vertex Pharmaceuticals and most recently, Sanofi.
Kymera has recently designed new offices and lab space at the Arsenal Yards development in Watertown. We offer free parking and a free transportation shuttle from Harvard Square during commute hours.
Responsibilities:
- Manage R&D contract tracking for all Manufacturing/CMC, pre-clinical and clinical trial activities
- Review purchase orders in relation to existing contracts
- Monthly or Quarterly meetings with each R&D team to understand progress and activity
- Establish working relationships with individuals across the R&D departments
- Prepare month-end closing entries
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Involvement in SOX controls in a 404b environment
- Understand R&D contract spend in relation to budgeted spend through close work with FPA
- Produce quarterly analytics in comparison to budget for month-end and quarter-end reviews
- Ad hoc reports and requests as needed by the finance team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 5-7 years’ experience in accounting role
- Exposure to life sciences industry required
- Recent public company experience preferred
- Must work well in a fast-paced environment and can multi-task
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong team player
- Strong excel and computer skills required
