About Monte Rosa Therapeutics

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing molecular glues to degrade disease-causing proteins by creating a platform that designs small molecules that reprogram ubiquitin ligases to eliminate disease drivers previously deemed undruggable.

Job Description

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is  seeking a highly motivated biochemist/biophysicist with drug discovery  experience to join the Biomolecular Sciences group. This is an exciting  opportunity to join a team responsible for the biochemical and  biophysical characterization and screening of novel small molecule  degraders. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing  and implementing a broad array of assays for lead discovery efforts in  support of Monte Rosa’s pipeline of oncology targets. The candidate  should exhibit excellent communication and collaborative skills for  working on cross-functional multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams and  have experience in managing direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to the overall scientific strategy and build of the grou

Responsible for the design and implementation of biochemical and biophysical assays to screen and characterize protein-small molecule and protein-protein interactions for multiple targets, from hit identification through mechanism of action studies

Evaluate compounds and develop structure-activity relationships in collaboration with medicinal chemists as a part of the overall hit-to-lead process

Proactively evaluate new screening technologies and implement into the drug discovery pipeline

Create and implement project plans and coordinate workflow and logistics to meet project goals and milestones.

Oversee maintenance of routine assays and generation of SOPs

Manage tracking of reagents and transfer of data to the internal database

Establish and manage external research at CROs

Effectively present and communicate research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences

Manage and direct the activities of research associates

Job Qualifications

Ph.D. or MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience

In-depth knowledge of developing assays and process to support Hit Identification and Hit to Lead activities

Experience developing and implementing medium to high-throughput biochemical assays (e.g. FP, TR-FRET, Alpha-LISA, IF etc.)

Experience with a broad spectrum of biophysical characterization assays (e.g. SPR, MST, ITC, NMR etc.)

Experience in recombinant protein construct design and optimization

Experience with screening and high throughput instrumentation for drug discovery (ECHO, scheduling software for robotic platforms)

Experience with high throughput data management, data flow, analysis and visualization (e.g. Spotfire, CDD Vault)

Experience in the field of targeted protein degradation (TPD) is a plus

Track record of delivering on project and company goals

Ability to accommodate to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines

Experience in managing and mentoring direct reports

Excellent communication and project leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting
