About SeatGeek

Help the world experience more live. SeatGeek was built in 2009 as the only mobile ticketing marketplace created with fan experience top of mind.

Job Description

We’ve got great software for selling, managing, and buying tickets. We humbly believe that we deliver high-quality code, but there’s always room for improvement.

The Web Platform team works on improvements to user experience and developer experience across external and internal web applications at SeatGeek.

We’re looking for an engineer who’s focused on establishing and maintaining best practices, building tools, architecting key components, and generally working to ensure product engineers can work efficiently while delivering high quality.

SeatGeek has ever-evolving products that are reshaping the way the ticketing industry works. Here’s a sample of some projects Web Platform has been working on:

  • We designed the architecture of a new, modern, foundation that powers SeatGeek.com and other web applications.
  • We migrated 300,000 LoC from Flow to TypeScript.
  • We are working with our design team to implement a design system.
  • We analyzed and improved the performance of SeatGeek.com leading to greater user experience.

Who you are

You are a developer who is passionate about supporting other engineers byways of guidelines, tooling, etc. You are an experienced frontend developer yourself and have a strong background with a modern frontend stack, while also maintaining an understanding of backends.

These are the skills we are looking for:

  • TypeScript & JavaScript: You have an excellent grasp of these languages, and keep up with the latest specs. You are also comfortable with DevTools.
  • React, Vue, or similar: You're familiar with at least one modern framework and clientside rendering technique, such as React or Vue. We use React to create our user interfaces, but experience with any comparable framework is sufficient.
  • Skilled communicator: You are proficient in oral and written communication, with a strong affinity for technical writing.
  • Product understanding: You understand how product engineers work, what they need to be efficient, and write scalable, safe code.
  • Nice to haves: Experience with Docker, one or more back-end languages, SQL, code generations, code mods, and CDNs.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and implement components and APIs for SeatGeek’s front-end libraries.

  • Work to continuously improve the developer experience for front-end engineers at SeatGeek.

  • Work with other teams to improve user experience across web applications, external and internal.

  • Advocate for improvements through research, internal blog posts, presentations, tools that encourage adoptions, and more.

  • Create and maintain best practices, and help keep our web applications up-to-date with modern standard.

  • Contribute to the growth and success of other members of the team.

Perks

  • Equity stake in a well-funded growth stage company
  • A superb benefits package that supports health/dental/vision. We also provide annual subscriptions to Headspace, Ginger.io, and One Medical
  • A focus on transparency. We have regular company meetings and Q&A panels where employees can chat openly with teams across SeatGeek, our co-founders, and external guests from the industry
  • Although this perk is currently on pause, we can’t help but talk about it. SeatGeek employees receive a monthly ticket-purchase stipend, and we cannot wait to get back to safely attending the live events that we so dearly miss
  • Covid-19 Response: We’re not expecting employees to return to the office until July 2021 at the earliest. Once it’s again safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming people back to our offices. In the meantime, we’re offering a $1,000 reimbursement to create your ideal workspace at home
