Job Description

We are looking for a senior data analyst to join SeatGeek’s Analytics team in New York City. You will join a high-performing team that will be the go-to partner on data production and insights generation for SeatGeek’s business teams. Your recommendations will shape strategy across key functions such as customer acquisition & retention, product experimentation, and competitive intelligence. You will work with your business partners to generate insights, conduct exploratory analyses, build data models and dashboards, and maintain key data pipelines in the data warehouse. Above all, you will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of SeatGeek’s customers and how they engage with us across all of our platforms and products.

As an integral part of the Analytics team, you will not only learn from a team of exceptional analysts, data scientists, and machine learning experts, but also develop your business literacy through substantial executive exposure.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership; tune the performance of our Redshift cluster, and investigate and refactor any expensive queries or inefficient data models
  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Product, Data Platform) to ensure upstream changes integrate with our data models and build the necessary capabilities to adjust when they don’t
  • Own relationships with various business stakeholders, manage expectations and align efforts to meet business needs by developing a strong communication process between teams
  • Evangelize data expertise, best practices, and documentation for all analytical data needs
  • Integrate and productionize Data Science and Analytics models as needed
  • Communicate key learnings and recommendations to stakeholders in a manner that productively influences decision making
  • Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers and others; identifying and initiating projects; managing resources; driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team accountable for results
  • Mentor junior members of the Data Team

Who you are:

  • 4 - 6 years of professional experience, preferably at a firm with a transactional marketplace business model and/or with a consumer-facing, mobile-first product.
  • A degree or higher in economics, psychology, computer science, statistics, mathematics or another quantitative discipline
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL, including experience in data modeling, query performance, and query optimization
  • Experience performing analysis with large datasets and building reports and dashboards
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to understand problems and engineers to understand data sources, and a track record of influencing business strategy with data
  • Preferred: Proficiency in statistical modeling and experimental analysis.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in a scripting language (Python or R)
