Sense is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to deliver our contractor communication platform to the world's best places to work. Sense is a rapidly scaling company making this the best environment to take on ownership as well as learning how to grow a company.
Our Core Data Engineering team, which includes the data pipeline infrastructure, ETL tools, and customer integrations, is looking for a Data Engineering Manager. Data engineers at Sense build data pipelines that efficiently and reliably move data from our customers systems through the Sense platform.
In this role, you will build and lead our data engineering team in Bangalore and help the members of your team grow both technically and professionally. You will work closely with product and platforms teams and lead the planning, execution and success of complex technical projects.

- Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads in the team as a hands-on manager
- Partner with key business stakeholders to prioritise work and create amazing products to support our data platform
- Act as a project manager for the projects that your team is responsible for.
- Provide technical leadership to your team by giving guidance on designs and coding when time allows.
Competencies:
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal
- Expertise with leading, managing and hiring a team of talented engineers
- 7+ years experience in database and/or data pipeline engineering
- Have solid understanding of both relational and NoSQL database technologies
- Programming experience in Python, Java, Ruby or other language
- Experience with large scale, high-volume data pipelines
- Expertise with database development skills including SQL
- Expertise with various ETL technologies and familiar with ETL tools
- Experience with managing production systems in AWS cloud platform
- Expertise with Apache Kafka, Spark, or other streaming technologies is a plus
- Expertise in building distributed data systems is a plus
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
