Job Description


  • We are seeking extremely versatile, engineering-driven scientists who are excited to bring together a seasoned perspective in lab-based science with an inventiveness in engineering to reshape scientific research. 
  • Scientist within the Research & Development Group contributes to the development, scaling, and implementation of high throughput assays and workflows.  This individual collaborates with a team of scientists and engineers upon projects to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement solutions to optimize the performance and increase the efficiency of the laboratory process.


  • The R&D group is responsible for creating new assays and troubleshooting experiments and technology on our platform. This requires a blend of scientific analysis and critical assessment of data with understanding of code and technology.  The team interfaces with both vendors and scientific partners, often expanding the limits of new technologies in these partnerships.


  • We’re seeking extremely versatile, talented scientists and engineers who are excited to get into the nuts and bolts of experiments, improve their reliability and quality, and come up with novel verification and validation methods that form an essential pillar in the realization of cloud-based life sciences.



  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, analyze complex data and drive key assay and process related decisions
  • Design and execute experiments that develop and characterize cell-based assays. Efforts may include:
    • Bringing new instruments and experimental techniques into the lab and developing assays into the R&D team
    • Finding optimal conditions for primary human cell culture
    • Characterizing variance and stability of assays at scale
    • Identifying and developing controls for sources of variability
    • Identifying and testing areas for process improvements
  • Lead cross-functional efforts with scientists, software engineers, hardware engineers, and team leaders throughout the company.  You will be expected to discuss everything from early drug development to the physics behind flow cytometry with these groups.
  • Present designs and conclusions to a broad interdisciplinary audience

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with primary cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry (10 color+), RNAseq/DNAseq workflows, high throughput screening, Python/R
  • Expertise in hematopoiesis, hematological malignancies, or immuno oncology

  • You are excited to lead the development of a culture that blends science and technology.  You speak both science and engineering and are excited to act as a bridge between groups.
  • You strive to stretch out of your comfort zone and are motivated to tackle seemingly impossible problems.
