Role overview:

The Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and review of Kiva Capital funds’ books and records, including portfolio valuation, fee computation, accruals, income allocations, and investor capital accounts. In addition, they will be involved in the preparation and review of the annual audit reports, act as a direct liaison with the fund management team(s), fund administrator, auditors, and other related parties or service providers.

Specific Responsibilities:

Fund Administration

    Principal point of contact and relationship owner with a third-party Fund Administrator.
    Provide regular transaction documentation to the Fund Administrator.
    Provide valuations and other information to the Fund Administrator on a quarterly basis.
    Support the Kiva Capital funds’ credit facility drawdowns and repayments; prepare periodic reporting and compliance attestations as may be required under funds’ credit facilities.
    Support fund cash forecasting and budgeting.
    Facilitate and monitor cash transactions.
    Support fundraising efforts, including preparation of diligence materials, and facilitating fund and investor onboarding during the closing of the fund.

Fund Accounting

    Prepare various work papers and reconciliations related to Kiva Capital funds’ investment activities, fee calculations, funds expenses and asset valuations.
    Maintain the books and records for Kiva Capital funds in accordance with the Offering Memorandum and/or other Fund Documents.
    Prepare management fees and waterfall calculations in compliance with Kiva Capital’s funds’ governing documents.
    Assist in the review of quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes, and supplemental financial reporting for the Kiva Capital funds.
    Review quarterly limited partner reporting.

Loan Administration

    Track Kiva Capital funds’ credit investments; understand credit investment terms.
    Prepare repayment schedules based on documents provided by Investment and Risk teams (loan agreements and hedge confirmations).
    Interface with hedging counter-party and banks to disburse and receive loan payments.
    Keep Risk and Investment teams informed about timely or delayed payments.

Audit/Tax Support

    In coordination with Kiva’s corporate controller and head of finance, support annual audits of Kiva Capital funds by providing documentation as requested.
    Document Kiva Capital funds’ accounting procedures and internal controls.
    Preparation of audited and unaudited financials to support routine investor requests.
    Support the preparation and filing of all tax returns by providing documentation and liaising with Kiva Capital funds’ tax preparers.

Treasury Management

    Maintain and develop appropriate cash management process flows for Kiva Capital funds.
    Set up and manage Kiva Capital funds’ bank accounts and related bank wires, in USD and/or local currencies.

Risk Support

    Support the Risk and Investment teams in preparation of materials for, and participate in, the Kiva Capital ALM and Valuation committees.
    Support the Risk team related to the preparation of quarterly valuations and fund models.
    Support the Risk team in interfacing with hedge counter-parties related to margin posting.

Role Requirements:

      BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field.
      Advanced degree and/or CPA are preferable. CFA also considered.
      6+ years of relevant investment and/or fund accounting or public accounting (audit) work experience. Experience with alternative investments is preferred.
      Strong working knowledge of various financial instruments, especially private debt investments and partnerships, and accounting for those instruments in accordance with GAAP.
      Basic knowledge of Level 3 valuation methodologies.
      Experience with the audit processes, including internal control and test of details.
