You know all about companies like Meijer, Hy-Vee, Wegmans, Albertsons, Winco, Stater Bros, and Giant Eagle, like the back of your favorite grocery bag. If “familiarity” was the name of the game, you’d win in spades (or tortilla chips, if you prefer), for your genial tendency to be on a first name basis with vendors, brokers, and customers alike. After all, “there are no such things as strangers, only friends you haven’t met,” like you always say! In fact, your familia of happy customers grows with each of your dazzling sales presentations (no dull powerpoint slides here! Next slide.), and seamless management of strategy and brokers. About you:

        You’re a people-person, not a purple people eater.
        Your scholarly presentations are so good they’re practically critically acclaimed, and—on several occasions—you’ve received standing ovations.  
        Your organizational skills transcend the status quo and bring feng shui (and zen!) to your team.
        Like a chess master or queen bee, you know how to utilize your network of brokers and distributor partners to accomplish revenue and strategic goals.
        Managing trade spending and a sale expense budget is a cinch for you.  
        The thrill of working in a fast-paced, start-up environment (and the soundtrack to your alarm clock, which may or may not be “All I Do is Win” by DJ Khaled) gets you out of bed in the morning.
        You love where you live—home is where the heart is, no? We get it, we love where we live too! You may be happy to know that this position could be remote.

What you will do:

        Achieve revenue targets, new item launch goals, and seize opportunities.
        Monitor customer execution and broker performance against annual objectives.
        Create action plans to address challenges and opportunities (i.e. filling voids or increasing YoY same store sales).
        Develop and implement customer specific sales plans to achieve revenue and distribution goals.
        Conduct regular field visits with broker sales representatives.
        Manage, influence, and lead relationships with brokers, distributors, and customers to achieve department goals.
        Demonstrate understanding of market conditions and events, customer issues, and competitive intelligence to develop a comprehensive sales plan.
        Contact and schedule appointments with grocery customers including business reviews, line extensions, promotion programs, etc.
        Travel up to 50% and attend trade shows.

Your experience:

        2+ years experience in sales for the grocery channel.
        Existing knowledge of major grocery channel customers, distributors, brokers, etc. and a solid understanding of customers, their requirements, needs and trends.
