We are looking for Character Technical Directors (Riggers) who will be available either on a full-time basis or an exclusive 1 year contract requiring 40+ hours a week. This role is responsible for collaborating with the team to design, implement, and maintain the animation/rigging pipeline. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in rigging as well as a strong artistic eye.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create and maintain high-quality animation character and prop rigs, as well as workflows, in Maya
  • Work with the Lead Character TD and the CG Lead to develop and integrate tools in the pipeline, and refine existing techniques and processes
  • Provide support to existing character rigs and tools in production
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of production experience
  • Character/vehicle/props/facial rigging experience in Maya (in film, broadcast, or game environments)
  • In-depth knowledge of rigging systems for Maya, including a thorough understanding of weighting and skinning
  • Able to sculpt and author shapes that follow the artistic guidelines set by the Art Director
  • Experience working with real time engines (Unity/Unreal Engine, or proprietary)
  • Software development experience
  • Experience using Physics systems (nCloth, etc.)
  • Proficient in Python and Maya scripting
  • Strong artistic eye, understanding of both Figure and Facial Anatomy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Solid communication and organization skills
  • Willing to take on new challenges and has an appetite for learning, researching and developing in a dynamic environment
