About the Position
Edgewise Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Controller and dynamic finance leader to drive Edgewise Therapeutic’s overall accounting policies and oversee all financial functions. The ideal candidate has worked for a public biotech/medical device company and has previously worked for one of the Big 4 firms and has a CPA.

Primary Responsibilities
Partner with organizational leadership in strategic decision making, resource allocation and financial operations
Direct financial and accounting functions: revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, project accounting, fixed assets, month-end closings, bank, and general ledger reconciliations
Responsible for optimization and maintenance of accounting and business systems
Establish and maintain the organization’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Ensure adequate financial controls exist and develop all required processes and documentation for a SOX audit.
Prepare financial statements and reporting in accordance with GAAP. Develop analytics and variance analysis for trending and to identify risks
Manage third party professional firms, including auditors, banking
Work with executive management team to communicate actual performance to plan
Provide strategic insight and recommendations for improved results.
Maintain transparent communication. Communicate Edgewise updates through department meetings, 1:1 meeting, and other forms of communication
Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities of the department. Make decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, and justifiable.
Develop reporting packages and tools that are consistent with SEC reporting requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience with increasing responsibilities, including a strong focus on general accounting, SEC reporting, systems optimization, job costing, and reporting systems
Experience preparing all footnotes/disclosure and MD&A for public company
Experience with med device, biotech/tech start up and venture backed industry experience
Experienced, well rounded finance leader with people management experience in a small organization
Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert to the organization’s management team that provides leadership and direction
Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment with a detailed but flexible approach. Ability to make sound, scalable, decisions and create clear processes.
Self-motivated individual with a record of achievement through past industry experience
Strong communications skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
