Job Description
We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to bring Pulumi’s cloud programming model to the world. You will be a part of realizing a vision where every developer can program the cloud.
As the Engineering Manager for the Pulumi Service team, you will own our engineering processes and the end-to-end delivery of new features and products for our customers. Pulumi resides at the intersection of source code management, cloud consoles, and CI/CD systems, and provides the opportunity to deeply influence the way cloud engineers create and manage cloud software. The Pulumi Service is the API and web console by which customers manage state, collaborate with one another, and take advantage of the many integration and enterprise capabilities of the platform. You will define the vision and engineering roadmap for your team in addition to collaborating with product management to design, scope, and plan the products and features for the Pulumi Platform.

In This Job You Will:
- Manage the engineering process, working with product, executives and engineers to set realistic deadlines, and keep the Service team on track to meet its deliverables.
- Hire, mentor, and develop an engineering team.
- Own the roadmap and prioritization of efforts across your team.
- Pitch in as a developer when necessary: writing code, reviewing code and design proposals, etc.
- Collaborate with product, sales, and customers to scope deliverables.
- Work cross-functionally with project stakeholders to turn engineering effort into customer value.
- Turn strategy and ideas into delivered results.
- Own accountability for communication and execution around product delivery goals across teams.
- Keep current on the latest software engineering methodologies, choosing what’s best to meet Pulumi’s product goals.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Have:
- At least 5 years of engineering management overseeing senior software engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of DevOps and developer tools.
- Superior project management skills, with successful experiences delivering complex engineering projects on time and on budget.
- Comfort with building and iterating on both Open Source and Enterprise products.
- Comfort with all/some of the following: Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
