Position Summary

LakePharma is a leading biologics company with integrated solutions for antibody discovery. We are a  seeking a talented individual to join our growing Antibody Engineering Team as a Scientist II. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in display technologies, biochemical assay design, and bacterial protein expression and purification to discover novel antibodies. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize phage or yeast surface display methodologies to discover novel antibodies or engineer existing antibodies to improve their functional activities.
  • Use state-of-the-art phage display methodologies and high throughput ELISA-based and FACS-based screening. 
  • Perform kinetic characterization and epitope binning of monoclonal antibodies or antibody fragments using BLI (Octet)
  • Plan, execute, and deliver on projects, which may be performed in parallel
  • Identify and promptly troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Regularly communicate results to company supervisors       
  • Follow SOP’s and record and report deviations
  • Maintain detailed lab records and perform electronic data entry using proprietary software
  • Participate in procurement of materials
  • Perform or oversee routine maintenance on instruments and equipment
Requirements
  • M.Sc. with 7+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related field is required
  • Phage display experience is required
  • Extensive experience in ELISA based screening is required
  • Knowledge of DNA sequence analysis software is required
  • Proficient with FACS analysis
  • Experience with SPR/BLI 
  • Excellent attention to detail, record keeping, and communication skills
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Strong ability to manage work with minimal supervision

Physical requirements

  • Work is performed in an office and laboratory environment with exposure to electrical office equipment, biological and chemical hazards, and cryogenic material. 
  • This position requires long periods of sitting or standing for extended periods of time; prolonged standing for more than 2 hours may be required.  
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Light to moderate lifting and transfer objects with a maximum lift of 30 lbs, on a regular basis, bend, stoop, kneel, and do repetitive tasks.
