Job Description

FabFitFun is searching for a Director of Financial Accounting to join our Finance and Accounting team at our HQ office located in West Hollywood! This individual will report to the Controller and have the opportunity to lead a team of highly motivated professionals within a fast-paced eCommerce business toward a tighter, more refined and public company grade system of processes, controls and financial reporting. We are looking for someone who can thrive on deadlines, drive innovation, and raise the bar in every aspect of producing quality internal and external financial reports.

What You’ll Do:

  • Refine processes and apply your technical accounting expertise to key performance areas and their impact to internal and external financial reporting including revenue, inventory, accounts payable, and operating expenses
  • Oversee and review the periodic close process, ultimately providing both senior organizational and departmental leadership with a single point-of-contact to understand balance and performance metric fluctuations, validation of assumptions used by finance in the annual operating plan (AOP) and provide timely, actionable recommendations
  • Accountable for periodic revenue & cost of goods sold analysis as well as provide high-level oversight to the account reconciliation process, providing additional assurance on validity, accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate across the organization with other departments including Merchandising, Operations, Business Intelligence and Warehouse to identify, support and implement strategic objectives
  • Partner with Data Engineering to improve and maintain data integrity as well as effectively communicate business intelligence accounting requirements needed to support relevant, reliable and accurate financial reporting
  • Analyze and monitor KPI’s such as inventory value, customer churn and average revenue per user
  • Communicate and partner with Warehouse operations personnel to enhance veracity of periodic financial reporting results as well as various cross functional strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with the Senior Inventory Accounting Manager to make sure inventory adjustments (e.g. RTV, donations, liquidations) and valuations are properly reported in the financial statements
  • Communicate with creditors and other external stakeholders including review and submission of timely and accurate debt covenant reporting
  • Lead and support timely internal and external audit requests
  • Lead accounting team toward a state of IPO readiness, including preparing the organization for SOX compliance
  • Assist Controller and other senior finance leadership team members to advance organization’s strategic objectives

 What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent field, CPA required
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Past participation in IPO readiness and familiar with SEC technical requirements
  • Experience implementing an ERP system
  • Expert knowledge of current GAAP
  • Experience navigating an organization through a complex and significant accounting rule change (e.g. ASC 606, ASC 842)
  • Seasoned user and administrator of accounting systems and practices, NetSuite experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on process improvement and control design
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently, think critically, and execute well in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective and experienced communication and collaboration skills with colleagues in and outside the Accounting and Finance team

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with eCommerce retail, startup, manufacturing, or subscription business
  • Systems Experience: familiarity with Workday (HRIS), HighJump (WMS) and Planful (FP&A)
  • Experience with international accounting (e.g. IFRS) and tax compliance (e.g. transfer pricing)
