Job Description

The local and home services industry is very fragmented and unorganized. Prior to Urban Company, hiring a plumber, beautician, yoga trainer, math tutor etc. was a painful process. There were no standards, no concept of trust, pricing inefficiencies etc. In a nutshell, the industry was shackled in the “yellow pages” era, and had seen no fundamental innovation for far too long.

The Urban Company team is young and passionate, and we see a massive disruption opportunity in his industry. By leveraging technology, and a set of simple yet powerful processes, we wish to build a platform that can organize the world of services - and bring them to your finger-tips. Job Responsibilities

  • Work on improving the product market fit for the existing offerings, which inturn requires deep understanding of existing Urban Company business fundamentals and deep bottom up problem solving.
  • Since the industry as such is majorly fragmented, unorganized, and without any significant existing benchmarks, the candidate will need to work in an environment with significant amount of ambiguity, and ensure alignment with the overall organisational growth targets.
  • Perform tasks ranging from redesigning our customer support process to improving customer experience, to significantly increase the speed of supply building (professionals), to data and diving to understand what makes our customers love our services.
  • Establishing business processes – spending time on the ground to gather insights and build solid processes/SOPs to enable a seamless scale-up.
  • Collaborating across multiple teams – city team, marketing, product, finance to ensure coherence and swift execution.
  • This role is expected to attack critical business bottlenecks for UC to enable swift scale up. While this role involves an element of strategizing, we expect candidates to have an ear to the ground, get their hands dirty, and solve real problems. Job Requirements/Potential Backgrounds

  • 3+ years of consulting experience AND 2+ years of experience in a high growth operations based start-up.
  • 5+ years of consulting experience.
  • 5+ years of program management / category management experience in high growth Ops based start-ups.
  • 5+ years of Operations experience in FMCG/Oil and Gas.
