As an Engineering Manager in platform security, you will be responsible for managing a team of highly skilled engineers to design and build systems for securing mission critical aspects of the Databricks platform and infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering leaders, product management, and other key stakeholders (including executives) to design and build large scale systems for managing production access, our customer facing and internal secret infrastructure, PKI to name a few. 

Outcomes

  • Hiring. Recruit and hire strong engineers in a competitive hiring climate.
  • Technical leadership. Own the technical output of the databricks product team. Ensure high technical standards by instituting processes (architecture reviews, testing) and culture (engineering excellence). 
  • Driving key security initiatives across the company (e.g. secret/cert management, production access control, infrastructure security monitoring among others).
  • Driving and championing security best practices across the company 
  • Review and drive long term technical direction of the Databricks product.
  • Management. Directly manage the team. Provide feedback and guide promotions and leveling processes.
  • Planning. Work to scope and plan key deliverables. Work with engineering managers and IC’s to ensure project planning of key initiatives.
  • Cross-functional execution. Coordinate within the organization alongside PM, marketing, support and sales to ensure delivery of key initiatives. Influence product strategy alongside the PM team.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience managing highly complex, technical engineering teams, preferably in the security domain.
  • At least 4 of production level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the security domain, particularly experience with secret management, security monitoring, PKI and/or production access control
  • Experience in architecting, developing, deploying, operating and securing large scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
