Job Description

Millions of kids and thousands of schools have started coding with Tynker, the fun platform that teaches kids to code. Tynker is redefining the way kids are learning to program as they solve puzzles and play coding games. Tynker's products include game-based courses for home learning, a comprehensive school curriculum, and puzzle-based mobile apps.

We are looking for a curriculum developer to join our team of game designers, developers and course developers to plan and author activities that teach programming to K-12 students. You will be responsible for making these activities teacher friendly, mapping them to educational standards and maintaining and improving the curriculum based on learning feedback from students. Your educational insight, creative ideas and strong writing skills will drive the success of our products in schools.

  • Must be passionate about creating new and fun ways for kids to learn
  • Advanced degree (MA, MS,M.Ed., PhD) in education, instructional design or a related field
  • Must have over 5 years experience as a teacher
  • Must have knowledge of coding with languages like Scratch, Tynker or Python
  • Experience with different instructional design principles and pedagogical methods in K12 including self-paced instruction, constructivist thinking, and project based learning.
  • Must be able to talk to subject matter experts and articulate abstract concepts in clear, easy-to-follow directions for both teachers and students
  • Proficiency in making presentations, help documents and other related e-learning materials
  • Knowledge of educational standards such as CCSS, NGSS, CSTA
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work well within tight schedules and with minimum supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Portfolio required for consideration
Bonus points for the following:
  • Experience authoring content for eLearning systems and MOOCs
  • Experience with ICT Key Stage 1 & 2 a big plus
  • Basic working knowledge to edit HTML, CSS and XML
  • Knowledge of state-level standards such as TEKS is a big plus
  • Ability to make technical videos that explain concepts
