Job Description
Voyage is seeking an experienced Safety & Systems Manager with proven proficiency in Functional Safety and Systems Engineering processes and appropriate standards. You will work closely with industry-leading system matter experts throughout the autonomy stack and vehicle platform to achieve the design, implementation, and validation of Level 4 autonomous vehicles! Your role will be to lead a team of Systems and Safety Engineers, defining the strategy to execute the functional safety concept and technical architecture to be deployed throughout the Voyage fleet. You will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and managing a world-class Safety and Systems Engineering team.
Functional Safety
- Describe and quantify the Operational Design Domain
- Analyze and select appropriate environment scenarios
- Derive Functional Safety Concept including SG and FSR structure
- Lead company knowledge transfer and understanding of developing industry safety standards
- Project Safety Manager responsibilities
- Voyage Safety Committee member
Systems Engineering Design & Architecture
- Process-driven structure and maintenance of Requirement Management Traceability tools
- Organize, drive, and facilitate FMEA process cross-functionally across the Engineering organization
- Own the generation of all Functional, Non-Functional, and Technical Safety Requirements for the Vehicle and System level.
- Invent and simplify hardware and software system architecture, failure propagation, and sequence timing diagrams
- Brainstorm creative methods of quick prototyping to verify critical acceptance criteria requirements (i.e. latency)
- Component selection trade-off analysis to consider cost, performance, power, and reliability attributes
- System interface and boundary diagram definitions and analysis
Testing & Validation:
- Creation of an appropriately scoped validation plan to incorporate Test Cases with sufficient test coverage of nominal, fail-safe, environment variables, edge-case scenarios, and structured closed track scenarios
- Integration & Verification of the System and Vehicle level using methods such as Simulation, Hardware-In-the-Loop, and Fault Injection
- Lead analysis and insights from open-road vehicle data
- Level 4 Fail-Safe validation of Platform level Drive-by-Wire interfaces with base vehicle actuators (Brake, Steering, Propulsion)
- Stress testing of Perception & Localization Sensors
- Controlled and repeatable ODD representative Test Case creation providing Requirement Traceability
- Generation of well defined Test Procedures, Test Cases, and Test Plans for Operations Team execution
- Support hands-on vehicle test preparation and debugging of platform issues
- Test Report creation, communication, and escalation to leadership
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Automotive or relevant safety-industry experience
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 26262 and ISO/PAS 21448 SOTIF
- Experience in computer architecture, power distribution, perception sensors, or localization sensors
- Experience in processes such as HARA, FMEA, and Systems Requirement reviews
- Strong experience in the design and validation of safety critical hardware and software architecture
- Technical writing proficiency
Preferred Experience:
- Assisted Driving (ADAS) and/or Automated Driving experience
- Diagnostics knowledge and experience
- Experience with ROS operating system
- Fail-Safe or Fail-Operational Redundant Architecture design
- Basic level code comprehension (C++, Python, Matlab)
- Data analysis and test automation experience
