We are seeking a talented, motivated photonic design engineer to contribute to the next-generation artificial intelligence computing architecture alongside a team of world-class scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop state-of-the-art silicon photonics components and systems;
  • Develop conceptual design, physical modeling, simulation, and layout of photonic and optoelectronic devices and systems including waveguides, couplers, phase shifters (thermos-optic, plasma dispersion), and detectors;
  • Collaborate with electronics design teams to design devices that meet electrical and optical requirements;
  • Support development team by designing test structures and developing a photonics library for foundry process control.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of photonic device physics, semiconductor device physics, and silicon photonics gained through work experience, graduate research, or first authorship of peer-reviewed journal covering photonic device physics, semiconductor device physics, and silicon photonics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) fabrication process gained through serving as a primary contributor of at least one complete process.
  • Demonstrated ability using computational methods to design photonic components gained through work experience or graduate research experience.
  • Demonstrated ability using optical simulation software, including FDTD and optical mode solvers, gained through work experience, graduate research, or first authorship of articles in a peer-reviewed journal covering photonic device physics, semiconductor device physics, and silicon photonics.
  • Demonstrated ability developing software gained through work experience or graduate research.
  • Demonstrated ability using numerical computational tools gained through work experience or graduate research.
  • All experience may be gained concurrently.
