Job Description

Who We’re Looking For:

MyHealthTeam is looking for an experienced, meticulous copy editor to join our Content Team. The ideal candidate will be able to copy edit both English- and Spanish-language content.

MyHealthTeam creates compelling, useful articles for more than 50 social networks serving people with chronic health conditions. Because we are committed to improving health outcomes for our readers, all our articles must be copy edited for both medical accuracy and a compassionate tone.

What You Get To Do Every Day:

  • Fact-check article drafts
  • Copy edit manuscripts for tone and accuracy
  • Adhere to MyHealthTeam house style and Associated Press (AP) Stylebook guidelines 
  • Help to maintain and develop house style guides in English and Spanish
  • Proofread articles on our sites before they are published 
  • Work on special projects to support our Content Team goals, as needed

What We’re Looking For:

A successful MyHealthTeam copy editor will be:

  • Experienced, with at least five years as a professional copy editor 
  • AP-style savvy
  • Comfortable using house style guides
  • Able to accurately fact-check references and medical information
  • Proficient with editing in Google Docs
  • Able to transition from copy editing to proofreading or developmental editing, as needed
  • Curious and willing to develop a working knowledge of 50-plus health conditions
  • Collaborative and comfortable working on a team 
  • Flexible as goals and deadlines change
  • Organized and able to track many projects simultaneously

Skills That Aren’t Required, But Definitely a Plus: 

  • Experience with American Medical Association (AMA) reference formatting
  • Familiarity with ChatGPT and project management software, such as Asana  
  • A background in editing health or medical information

Expected Salary Range

$85,000 — $105,000
