Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on technician on the Mechanical Engineering team within the Research and Development group. This individual will work with engineering to develop test fixtures and execute experiments on a wide variety of components and prototypes related to our innovative product.


  • Perform complex test procedures to evaluate all aspects of the development of new products
  • Assemble, disassemble and rework prototype devices for field testing
  • Design and assemble mechanical test fixtures used for verification and validation (V&V) testing and manufacturing inspection
  • Perform verification testing on mechanical components and adhesives
  • Operate and install specialized mechanical test equipment (e.g. tensile tester, shear tester, 3D printer, mill, environmental chamber, etc.)
  • Order materials and maintain an organized, clean lab environment
  • Ensure lab equipment is in working order and is in calibration


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education or technical experience
  • 4+ years experience working as an R&D technician, or equivalent
  • Must be a self-starter and be willing to work with others in a collaborative and flexible manner
  • Solid understanding of mechanical fabrication and use of mill, lathe and drill press
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD to design fixtures for testing; prior drafting experience a plus
  • Good soldering skills; familiarity with electronics and electrical components
  • Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
