Job Description:
In this position you will develop PlayFirst's new concept for game installation and digital rights management. The end result of your work will be seen by every PlayFirst user, every time they play. Your work will have a high profile because it represents the first contact we have with our customers. Furthermore, you will update and maintain both the software installer technology as well as the digital rights management protection components our games rely on. A successful candidate will love user interfaces and be excited to add UI effects and polish that go beyond the written spec, making software a joy to use. Someone with a game development background might be a particularly good fit. While UI implementation skills are critically important to this role, so is the full mastery of backend implementation details such as process management, communication protocols, and operating system API's. It is worth noting that you would be working on both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. This role is highly cross functional: not only will you work closely with the product manager for www.playfirst.com. and the site team on a daily basis, but will also collaborate with game engineering and release engineering to ensure the most prudent use of existing technology, as well as plan for future needs.
Technical Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science.
* At least five years of professional software development experience.
* At least three years experience with C++ development.
* Working knowledge of Windows or Macintosh OS X, such as:
o WIN32
o Carbon and/or Cocoa
o GDI or CoreGraphics
o Network programming, WinINet or CFNetwork
o COM
o Objective-C
* Working knowledge of Web Technologies such as HTML and JavaScript.
* Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Lua, JavaScript or ActionScript.
* Strong understanding of end-user experience.
* Computer Graphics programming experience.
* Facility with object-oriented design and implementation.
* Eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
Preferred:
* A love for playful user interfaces that sparkle.
* Experience working with the Playground SDK.
* A passion for start-ups and able to work in a fast paced ever-changing environment.
* Experience with high growth Web sites and web-based entertainment.
