| User Experience Design Consultant | | UpTake | | We are looking for a creative, pragmatic user experience consultant with interactive and visual design experience to help us create the overall design plan, wire frames and UI interaction to make UpTake.com the best travel search engine. The ideal candidate will have a goal-driven, iterative and quick working style with excellent judgment and willingness to ruthlessly prioritize to create a consumer experience where ‘less is more'. This role is initially for 3-4 months with opportunity to extend. Regular face-to-face collaboration at our office is a must; we are located in downtown Palo Alto, one block from Caltrain.
Responsibilities:
You will work closely with our VP product, President and application engineers to develop the interactive and visual designs to improve the UpTake.com user experience.
* Combine best of search designs with necessary travel elements and unique UpTake contextual filters
* Deliver pragmatic designs that meet consumer and business goals and key metrics
* Work collaboratively to develop longer term design and implement that design in short term sprint cycles
* Refresh branding and identity elements including fonts and color palettes
* Create wire-frames and Photoshop designs - and ideally HTML pages
* May be an opportunity to conduct user testing in future
* Quick iterations, with regular on-site interaction at least twice a week
Experience Required:
* 5+ years experience designing consumer web sites that enjoyed measurable success
* Experience and examples of working with wire frames, visual design and overall UI flow
* Experience developing long term plan and breaking that plan into sprint-sized modules to maximum short term effect
* Better sense of humor than the average bear
* Experience with search and discovery sites, with online travel sites, and with branding and identify elements will be of benefit:

* Range of 12-20 hours per week for initial period of 12-16 weeks (for late summer start)
