Genocea Biosciences was founded in 2006 to commercialize key breakthroughs in vaccine discovery and development. Genocea can screen pathogens in a high-throughput manner to rapidly identify antigens that result in the in vivo stimulation of protective CD8+ and CD4+ T-cells. These targets can be immediately incorporated into existing delivery systems to produce multivalent vaccine formulations that have the highest probability of generating protective immunity.


 
Job Description:
We are seeking a protein biochemist with experience in analytical assay development to participate in the advancement of our lead recombinant protein vaccine. As a member of the Biochemistry group, the ideal candidate will provide expertise in protein characterization assays and help establish analytical capabilities to support QC activities. The candidate will also support antigen purification and characterization for all preclinical programs.

This individual will have extensive hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of HPLC analytical instrumentation as well as with standard protein purification methods. Knowledge of biopharmaceutical development and familiarity with assay qualification and validation are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

Execution of protein characterization assays to include purity, stability and identity for release testing of toxicology material

Purification of lead antigens in support of research and development activities
Participation in development project teams

Presentation of findings internally and external collaborators

Writing of technical reports in support of CMC regulatory filings
 
Qualifications:
Must have experience in executing a wide variety of biochemical and biophysical methods for protein analysis and characterization using HPLC (SEC, IEC, RP etc), SDS-PAGE and immunological based assays

Knowledge of protein purification (affinity, IEC etc) and experience using FPLC methods

Good understanding of QA/QC concepts and principles and FDA regulations is preferred

Excellent communication skills and leadership experience

Education & Experience:

MS/PhD in biochemistry, chemical engineering or a related discipline with at least 2-4 years of independent research experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
