Job Description:
Job responsibilities: Experienced, hands-on scientist will screen microbial proteins for
insecticidal activity. The successful candidate will design, perform and analyze bioassays on
economically important insects with the goal of discovering and characterizing insecticidal
activities from microbial sources.
Required skills and experience: Ph.D. or M.S. degree in entomology with at least 5 years
experience. Experience with the major pests of corn and cotton, insect rearing techniques and
bioassays using artificial diets is required. Familiarity with high throughput assay development
and/or microbiology is preferred. Knowledge of protein biochemistry and the mode of action of
major classes of microbial insecticidal proteins is a plus. Excellent organizational, recordkeeping,
and computer skills are required. The candidate must be comfortable working as part of a team in
a fast-paced and fluid environment.
