Purpose
A Software Quality Engineer at Confluence is responsible for participating in QA engineering teams
and contributing ideas to an evolving testing strategy. This person works under the direction of
the software development team through the entire product lifecycle – requirements, design, review
and coding, stabilization, beta, release, and service packs. The person in this position will work
directly with Project Management, Development, Design, Product Management, and Support. A
comprehensive understanding and background in software development and testing methodologies
are required. This position will report to the QA Team Lead.
Responsibilities
Create and execute test plans
Implement automated and manual test cases with a focus on validating complex
calculations, workflow (real world production use), performance, migration, and
memory/regression testing; review user documentation
Participate in the development of QA strategies, schedules, and resource plans in
conjunction with Development and Project Management to ensure code coverage, product
quality, and scheduling accuracy
Develop an in-depth, detailed understanding of the Financial Services industry in order to
test effectively and efficiently

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
1-3 years in software quality engineering
Good understanding and experience applying state-of-the-art software quality testing
strategies on Windows2000, Windows 2003 Server, and Windows XP
Knowledge of Mutual Funds, Insurance or Financial Services is desirable.
Proven automation skills and experience with some scripting language(s), Rational Robot,
Winrunner or a related tool.
MSSQL and Oracle DBMS experience
Knowledge of Crystal Reports a plus

Experience with XML, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, or C# a plus
Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational and teamwork skills with strong
desire and ability to deliver results
Ability to quantify the fundamental risks and problems associated with implementing
software development support processes and to assess, support, and implement process
and technology changes
Excellent analytic, technical, and diagnostic skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
