| Description: | AFM experience imaging in tapping, contact, phase, non-contact modes• Surfaces: science/coatings/flatness/chemistry/engineering/physics• Characterization Techniques: Raman, auger, XPS, AES• Deposition techniques, thin films, ALD, CVD, PLD, PVD, • SAMs• Mechanical force experiments on DNA in solution and in air, stretching and manipulation• Labview or automation programming a plus• STM, force pulling of molecules, in atmosphere, and UHV• Mechanical Engineering• Microfabrication: wet and dry etching, lithography• UHV hardware and operations, built and operated UHV systems before• Building novel micro/nano devices and associated instrumentation• Someone who has built and designed an AFM before, optics, feedback• New instrumentation design and construction• Cryogenic temperature experiments• Robotics and automation• Must be able to relocate or commute to research space next to Stanford University• Looking for lots of experience, but also a strong flexibility in devising novel solutions and problem solving • Very knowledgeable of current research techniques in your areas of expertise• Good working/practical knowledge of equipment –everybody gets their hands dirty!• Well networked in your field –help us build the team and find the expertise we need!• May not fit into one of the positions as described exactly, but have skills applicable to multiple positions or are exceptional in a particular area. • Very open to new ideas and methods (not dogmatic)• Able to take responsibility for a project and drive it forward with minimal supervision• Not afraid to jump into a new field and learn as needed• Experienced with startup environments (this is a plus, but not necessary)• Already living in the Stanford/South Bay area or able to relocate• Ready to join our team right now! | |
