Training Developer

Overview:

Calix Customer Service department requires a Training Developer to design new training courses, update current training content, and drive key initiatives that improve the customer learning experience. The position includes developing course materials for web-based training, classroom training, and certification courses and tests.

Responsibilities:

* Course development for product training including creating new courses and maintenance of existing instructor led and web-based courses.
* Work with instructors, technical writers, subject matter experts, other departments, and outside resources to organize and develop training materials and online courses. This includes writing instructional content, creating and testing hands-on exercises, creating presentations and visual aids, developing online instructional materials, creating assessments and tests, and reviewing courses developed by others.
* Be responsible for all phases of course development for assigned projects.
* Prepare course materials for online and print distribution.
* Work with the Training Coordinator to ensure all course materials for online and in-person training are ready by the committed deadlines.
* Delivering training for instructor-led courses and live web-based courses as needed.
* Work with Market Leads and Customer Service representatives to ensure training materials and online modules are consistent with current company messaging and contain relevant features and enhancements.
* Maintain all training content in the Calix content sharing application in accordance with Calix course standards.

Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills
*
Experience with course development/instructional design including online course development.

Experience using a variety of media creation tools for developing online content, including tools used to produce web pages, video, audio, screen recording, and animation.
*
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Presenter, and Camtasia Studio or similar tools.
*
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
*
Experience with SCORM and Learning Management Systems
*
Strong project management skills with the ability to work on several projects while maintaining deadlines.
*
Experience developing technical training. Experience in development of Datacom/Telecom equipment training a plus.
*
Experience providing public stand-up training a plus.
*
Familiarity with web conferencing applications as a communication medium with experience in producing Webinars.
*
Graphic Design experience a plus.
*
BA/BS with a minimum of five years training experience in technical products.
*
5 years instructional design experience required.
*
Excellent writing and copy editing skills required.
*
Extensive MS Power Point experience required.
*
10 - 20% Travel required.
