| Software Test Engineer | | Demdex | | Demdex, a well-funded venture-backed start-up is building out its founding technology team and is seeking a Software Test Engineer to help develop a revolutionary new product that will continue to transform the online advertising space. Our products are being used by top-tier publishers, advertising networks, agencies, brands and e-commerce companies worldwide. Demdex has an exceptional and accomplished management team so you will be in the company of real pros building exciting and innovative technology and client solutions.
The candidate will be someone who can test the various interconnected applications of an end-to-end SaaS-based solution against the given requirements and against his/her own knowledge-base of testing experience – who also has the ability to create and manage the necessary written documentation that this endeavor entails.
The candidate will be someone who is comfortable working for a small fast-paced start-up company that is aggressively growing and that has changing priorities and expectations based on our clients’ needs.
The candidate will also be someone who possesses strong interpersonal skills and who has the ability to work well with fellow testers, software developers, product managers, project managers, technical support engineers, and c-level executives.
This position reports to the QA Team Lead.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Conduct functional testing of new features, "bug" fixes, existing functionality, and usability – from both a black box and a gray box perspective.
* Conduct user acceptance testing.
* Conduct exploratory testing (test design and test execution at the same time).
* Troubleshoot and isolate problems found during testing (to determine if software bug found or issue with the test setup or test bed).
* Adhere to delivery deadlines.
* Document software bugs found, in writing; enter them into the bug tracking database.
* Document proposed feature enhancements, in writing; enter them into the bug tracking database.
* Document use-cases, in writing.
* Summarize testing results, in writing.
* Document the details of various test results, in writing as needed.
* Document lab test bed setups, in writing.
* Document software features for a given release, in writing as needed.
* Document testing strategies for our various product offerings, in writing.
* Assist with the smoke-testing of production software upgrades as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* 2 to 3 years of experience in a Software Testing role.
* Proficient in testing web applications across various browsers and in conjunction with various browser diagnostic tools.
* Proficient in database validation.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills; ability to research and solve problems quickly.
* Able to learn software applications quickly.
* Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities and expectations.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills when interacting with fellow testers, software developers, product managers, project managers, technical support engineers, and c-level executives.
NICE TO HAVES:
* Proficient in working with LAMP environments is a plus.
* Proficient in using Linux commands is a plus.
* Proficient in analyzing web protocols exchanges between a client and a server is a plus.
* Ability to write scripts in languages like Python or Perl is a plus.
* Prior experience testing software-based solutions used in the online advertising industry is a plus.
* Prior experience performing load and/or stress tests using automated test tools is a plus.
This position is full-time in New York City. Candidates must be US citizens or have secured appropriate work visas. Candidates must also be within daily commuting distance of Manhattan or willing to relocate.
