Twitter represents an evolving intersection of web, mobile, and API traffic, all of which is quickly growing. This combines in a complex and dynamic operations environment. We are looking to add to our the team that is laying the groundwork for our service to scale orders of magnitude in a cost-effective and reliable way. Responsibilities * Continually improve the performance and scalability of the Twitter service * Monitor service stability and performance * Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network * Prioritize tasks and work independently, while interacting with product and engineering teams * Configure servers and network * Write scripts to monitor and automate processes * Document current and future configuration processes and policies Qualifications * Experience in operations department of large-scale Internet service * 6+ years of experience with Linux/Unix/BSD * Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, security, storage, SQL databases, and memcache * Practical knowledge of shell scripting and at least one scripting language (Ruby, Perl, Python) * Track record of practical problem solving Preferred * B.S. in computer science * Experience with Ruby on Rails stack performance tuning * Experience with JVM-based application stacks * Experience with various flavors of message queues * Active user of Twitter Working at Twitter Twitter offers competitive salaries and full benefits, including health, dental, vacation, 401k, and stock options.
