| Principal Mechanical / Systems Engineer | | AEB | | An innovative mechanical engineer is sought to design electron beam processing equipment, to assist OEMs and end users developing ebeam processing equipment, and to design tools for internal manufacturing use. This position requires technical and interpersonal maturity, and involves significant customer contact. Some domestic and international travel (~10%) is required.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop system specifications jointly with customers
* Design mechanical systems - e.g., web handling and part conveyance mechanisms, fluid delivery and exhaust, thermal management, x-ray shielding, and packaging of sensors and electronics
* Lead design reviews, coordinate resources, and drive project completion
* Assist OEMs and end users to achieve rapid design-in success
* Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing personnel to provide producible, cost-effective solutions
Preference will be given to candidates having experience with vacuum systems and/or x-ray shielding.
Minimum Qualifications:
* B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
* 8 years of relevant experience
* Proficiency with solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred)
* Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes and tolerances
* Customer interface experience
* Track record of creative problem solving
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Pragmatic, results-oriented, collaborative attitude
